David V. Stivison Appalachian Scholarship Fund
Too often, promising individuals in our area don’t have the option of going to college simply because they can’t afford the cost. At HAPCAP we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity of a higher education and have created the David V. Stivison scholarship fund to help provide that opportunity.
The fund provides financial assistance to local high school seniors from working poor families who desire to further their career opportunities through a college education. This scholarship is available to students in Hocking, Athens and Perry counties.
The David V. Stivison Appalachian Scholarship Fund is named for a former employee who was a native of Hocking County. He died of cancer before he could complete his dream of helping Appalachian youth go on to college.
If you apply for our scholarship you may also be referred to the Coalition of Appalachian Development (COAD) for additional funding!
Help Build Our Scholarship Fund
Since 1999 we’ve awarded 75 scholarships, which amount to $42,500!
In order to offer the David V. Stivison Scholarship Fund we rely on the donations of community members like you. Be a part of helping send young, Appalachian adults in your community to college, an opportunity too many young people in the area simply can’t afford without scholarships like this one.
