8/16/21 MEDIA RELEASE – September is Hunger Action Month and the Southeast Ohio Foodbank, a program of Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, is seeking volunteers to use their voice in online fundraising efforts.
Hunger Action month is an annual campaign dedicated to driving awareness and inspiring action to help end hunger in America, both at a national scale and on the ground in local communities.
The Foodbank is currently looking for volunteers to be Social Media Ambassadors during the month of September. Ambassadors will educate their personal network of friends, family and followers on food insecurity, raise money through an online fundraising platform, and post content on their personal social media pages. Graphics, content ideas, and program information will be provided for any interested participants.
Too often, food insecurity means making impossible choices between food and other critical needs – like medicine, housing, and transportation. According to Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap data, there are over 50,000 food insecure individuals within the Foodbank’s service area. By supporting the Southeast Ohio Foodbank – either through direct donation, fundraising on their behalf, or volunteering, anyone can help to end the impossible choices of hunger.
